40+ new revenue sources for libraries & nonprofits

New Items in the State Library, November-December 2016 ďAs traditional sources of funding for libraries and other cultural heritage institutions decrease, librarians and fundraisers alike must seek out new sources and strategies. Rossman's previous publication, Castles Against Ignorance: How To Make Libraries Great Educational Environments, informs this latest work as does his experience as a broadcaster, librarian, and LIS instructor. In several chapters, he guides librarians through the challenges of fundraising with today's economic realities, providing usable solutions, case studies, and thought-provoking exercises to facilitate strategic decision making for all stakeholders. Significantly, the author focuses on ideas that establish and communicate the value of library or nonprofit collateral, whether measured in the impact of advertising space, public programming, or educational outreach. Included is plenty of useful advice on how to raise money for educational and cultural heritage institutions along with excellent highlighted summaries, thought-provoking exercises, and extensive chapter endnotes. VERDICT: This solid how-to guide functions as a workbook for anyone involved in library and nonprofit fundraising." -Felicia J. Williamson, Dallas Holocaust Museum © Copyright 2016.
