This position will lead a staff of enthusiastic and committed professionals and paraprofessionals in fulfilling the Librarys mission to connect all people to the information necessary to improve their lives through excellent services and materials.

Macon, located in central Georgia, is a vibrant community that values education, lifelong-learning and is highly invested in library service. The city is home to 5 colleges and universities, 6 museums, sports teams, Ocmulgee National Monument, and numerous parks and festivals
Responsibilities: The Head of Reference manages the Reference Department of Washington Library. This position serves as an integral member of the Washington team directing daily library operations. This leader will continue developing an organizational culture focused on exceptional customer service and exhibit commitment to effective library services, programs, and technology. The position supervises full time professional, para-professional, and regular employees as well as part-time staff.

Qualifications Qualifications: This professional position requires a Masters degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited university and 4 years of experience in a public library, one of those as a professional. A Georgia Librarian License is required or the ability to have one within six months.

Physical Requirements: Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities with/without reasonable accommodation to enable the employee to communicate effectively. Sufficient vision or other powers of observation to enable the employee to review a wide variety of materials. Sufficient manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation, to enable the employee to operate a personal computer, telephone, and related equipment. The job involves considerable amount of movement and activity. Work routinely involves lifting or handling material weighing up to 25 lbs., pushing book carts weighing up to 100 lbs., and heavy use of the computer.
