Information Services Librarian (PT) - Athens-Clarke County Library

Athens Regional Library System, Georgia Public Library of the Year 2017, has an immediate opening at the Athens-Clarke County Library for an entry-level librarian to join the Information Services team. We seek an enthusiastic, innovative, and flexible individual who proactively searches for opportunities to deliver quality library services that engage the community and exceed expectations. This job requires excellent customer service skills, knowledge of print and online resources to assist library patrons with their information needs, and technical skills to assist patrons using computers. The person in this position will act as U.S. Passport Acceptance Agent.

Qualifications This position requires an MLS from an ALA-accredited university OR current enrollment in an ALA-accredited MLS program with requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position; or a bachelor's degree and two years' public library experience, or any combination of education, training, and experience that provides requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position. Previous public library reference experience is strongly preferred. Bi-lingual ability (English-Spanish) is preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to walk, climb, stoop, reach, bend, kneel, and crawl in order to handle and manage storage and retrieval of library materials and equipment. Physical ability to operate a variety of equipment including computer, telephone, copy machine, printers, and audio/visual equipment; must be able move or carry objects or materials and to lift and place materials above head; must be able to exert up to 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 to 25 pounds force frequently. Physical demand requirements are at levels of Medium Work. ~ New hire drug screen required.
