Access Services Library Associate

Location: East Georgia State College Library

This position is responsible for performing duties in support of the operation of the East Georgia State College Library, including duties associated with library resource sharing and copy cataloging.
Communicates with other USG libraries concerning resource sharing; coordinates annual institutional billing between the library and other USG libraries; uses discretion to allow or deny item requests.
Processes item requests and prepares shipments for resource sharing transactions.
Add and edit patron information to the librarys ILS done each semester.
Composes notices and maintains correspondence with students, faculty and staff regarding borrower concerns, circulation policies, and other account issues including overdue fines and fees, holds, and damages or lost materials.
Perform circulation desk duties; check materials in and out; collect library fines and other fees, places items on reserve for instructors; updates status of lost materials when returned.
Provides daily supervision of student workers and training. Collaborates with Library Director for hiring and firing of student workers.
Performs basic cataloging and copy-cataloging of materials, updates existing records, deleting and withdrawing records and materials.
Assists patrons with general questions, location of materials, and use of software applications.
Performs other tasks and related duties as assigned by the Library Director and/or the Reference and Instruction Librarian.

Qualifications Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to skills typically associated with an associates degree.
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one year.
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree
