Reference Services Librarian-Assistant/Associate Professor of Library Science

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Reference Services Librarian-Assistant/Associate Professor of Library Science. The primary responsibilities of this position consist of offering general Library instruction; teaching Library credit and instruction classes; providing reference and circulation assistance at the Information Desk; serving as collection development selector. Occasional evening work is required.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

-Provide reference and general assistance for students, faculty, and the community at the Information Desk.
-Design, develop, deliver, and market library instruction classes, workshops, and research consultations. Collaborate with faculty and committees in achieving information literacy learning outcomes. Collaborate with faculty and teaching staff in library instruction.
-Provide library collection development services to faculty and others in assigned subject areas. Market and promote library collections to faculty, students and others.
-Develop, assist, and promote Library sponsored events, displays, promotional materials, and other marketing and outreach efforts.
-Represent the library and/or university at campus, local, state, regional, and national meetings and conferences. Work with campus partners across multiple academic units through service on committees, publications or presentations, holding office, and active participation.
-Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Librarian - Oconee Campus.

Qualifications Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:

-MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution
-At least one year of library experience, academic library preferred
-Must be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 pounds.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

-Superior oral, written, and presentation skills; excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
-Initiative, creativity, and flexibility in adapting to new technologies, services environment, and instructional methodologies.
-Ability to multi-task, manage workload.
-Knowledge of integrated library system, electronic databases, and print research resources; knowledge of learning management systems a plus.
-Working knowledge of application software (Microsoft Office suite), research strategies, and hardware such as computers, data projectors, printers, scanners, other standard office equipment.
