The University of Georgia Libraries seeks an innovative, energetic data professional with excellent problem solving skills and enthusiasm for collaborating with teams to improve the discoverability of library collections for the position of University System of Georgia (USG) Cataloging Coordinator. The USG Cataloging Coordinator will have the opportunity to establish relationships with catalogers across the state of Georgia while leading efforts to standardize policy, build consensus, and implement solutions to issues at the statewide level. This unique position also offers a chance to work in a classic cataloging department setting in a large academic library with support from faculty colleagues, and will provide opportunities to work with a wide range of materials and participate in PCC programs including NACO, SACO, and CONSER.

The USG Cataloging Coordinator is responsible to the UGA Libraries Deputy University Librarian & Director of Library Technology for ensuring the quality of the shared USG bibliographic database (GIL network zone). In consultation with the USG Cataloging Committee, this position will manage shared policies and data normalization rules. Additional duties include maintaining database integrity, overseeing service request system, coordinating needed documentation, and organizing testing of new software updates. In fulfilling these duties, the USG Cataloging Coordinator will work with the USG Cataloging Committee and members of the GALILEO Integrated Libraries (GIL) Support Staff.

The USG Cataloging Coordinator is a member of the librarian faculty of the University of Georgia Libraries and an original cataloger in the Libraries Cataloging Department. As such, the position will have the support of departmental colleagues and will be responsible to the UGA Libraries Head of Monographs Cataloging for performing original and complex copy cataloging of materials at the UGA Libraries, as needed.

Qualifications Required: MLIS from ALA-accredited program; Two to three years of original cataloging experience in an academic or research library;

Preferred: Two years experience working in a consortial library catalog; Working knowledge of Ex Libris integrated library systems; Competency in one or more modern European languages; Ability to work with broad range of subjects.
