Sarasota County Library System seeks applicants for nine (9) PART-TIME seasonal Customer Service Representative jobs at public libraries throughout the County. Each of the libraries serves as a community hub of activity, an information/learning center and a gathering place. The primary role of the Customer Service Representative is to provide direct assistance to library patrons in the location and use of information and complete routine tasks related to the daily operation of the library.(Duration: 8 weeks; 20 hours/week)

Library Assistant

(Official Title: Customer Service Representative): Customer Services Representatives provide direct library services to citizens, in person and by phone. Employee will be assigned to assist throughout the library in Circulation, Youth and Information Services areas.

Customer Service :
Greet library users and offer assistance
Assist library users in location, selection, use of collection items
Help with technology applications and computer operations
provide directional and program-related information

Circulation Duties :
Check in/shelve library materials
Process reserves
Issue library cards
Process mail notifications for overdue/missing items

Program Support :
Facilitate set-up of meeting spaces, equipment, resources for programs and events
Support program preparation and participate in presentation of library-sponsored programs
Assist individuals and organizations in completing reservations for meeting space

Operational Clerical Support:
Answer the telephone
Report statistical data
Receive and sort mail and Interoffice communication
Operate standard office equipment

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: A High School Diploma or equivalent and one (1) year experience in clerical or public contact work and working knowledge of computer and hardware systems dealing with public response.

Job Based Competencies: Demonstrates strong customer service skills, courteous and tactful. Uses attentive listening skills and communicates in a respectful manner with appropriate discretion. Speaks clearly and distinctly. Has the ability to handle challenging customer service situations, requesting assistance from co-workers and supervisor when necessary. Demonstrates respect for diversity with work behaviors that support the Sarasota County values. Possesses technical operational knowledge of and skills to operate phone, computer hardware/software systems and standard business equipment.
