GOLD Advanced Local Holdings Maintenance (Live Online)

2-hr increments over 2 consecutive days, Fall 2008/Spring 2009

Description (no travel required)

Now that you have learned the basics of LHM, it’s time to move on to some more advanced topics! OCLC Union Listing in Passport has been retired, and all union listing functionality (including the formation of GOLD Serials Local Data Records) has been migrated to OCLC Local Holdings in the Connexion Browser. In this class, GOLD members can work on creating progressively more complicated Local Holdings Records as well as integrating Constant Data into your records. GOLD membership encourages union listing at Level 3 encoding or higher so this course will help you achieve that goal. With LHM, you can indicate item-specific copying and lending policies and scope of coverage so this course is designed to help you examine the different options for deflection and how this works both in the real world and within the GOLD union listing environment. Alternative ways to access LHM, statistical analysis and issues that have come up with migration as well as the batch loading of LHRs will also be discussed. This class is offered in 2-hour increments for two consecutive days and is chock full of fun-filled exercises!
