2. How do we get a T-1 line installed for a new or moved facility?
Open a Help ticket at http://www.help.georgialibraries.org or call (877)-GPLSHELP (404-235-7210. Important note: Make your request as soon as possible, because the minimum notice required by the service providers is 6 calendar weeks.

3. Where can we monitor the traffic levels on the network?
GPLS has a server which monitors the routers and the traffic over the network. This can be viewed at: - http://netwatch.georgialibraries.org.

4. Where can we have our Library's web site hosted?
GPLS provides a web hosting service for Georgia Public Libraries. You may also choose host your site on your own in-house server. Alternatively most third party Internet service providers provide web hosting services. Libraries are responsible for maintaining the content of their websites (NOTE: the GPLS web server does NOT support Microsoft FrontPage extensions). Libraries are responsible for both registering domain names and keeping these registrations current.

 5. Where can we have our Library's email service hosted?
GPLS provides email hosting, which includes anti-Spam and anti-virus services. You may also maintain your own "in-house" email server. Alternatively, Internet service providers will host email services. Note that libraries are responsible for both registering domain names and keeping domain name registration current.

 6. Where can we find details of our library system's IP addressing scheme?

7. Which subnet mask should we be using?
The 255.255.255.0 (24 bit) mask should be used at all sites other than those in Atlanta Fulton County Public Library System, where many locations will use 255.255.255.128 (25 bit) masks..

 8. Which IP address should we use for the new default gateway (router)?
The default gateway address will end in "dot one" at all sites with 255.255.255.0 subnet masks. Example: a library with the 168.12.13.0 range would set the default gateway address as 168.12.13.1 .

9. Which DNS Servers should we be using?

Atlanta LATA
Primary: 198.72.72.11
Secondary: 131.144.4.9

10. How many actual IP addresses are available with our IP addressing scheme?
Each site using the 255.255.255.0 mask (24 bit) will have 253 addresses available. Example: a library with the 168.12.13.0 range would have an available address range of 168.12.13.2 through 168.12.13.254 (the “dot one” address will be used by the new router.)

11. Is there a good way for us to plan the allocation of new IP addresses?
We suggest creating a spreadsheet listing all of your PCs, servers, network printers, self-checkout machines etc. The spreadsheet should include their existing “old” IP addresses against which you can put in their new assignments.
