5. How do I change between servers using the Keyboard/Video/Mouse switch in my Accounting Server rack?
Press the 'Print Screen' key on the keyboard to bring up the selection screen.

6. Are the Accounting Servers under a hardware warranty?
Are the Accounting Servers under a hardware warranty? The servers were purchased by GPLS in 2002 with a three year next business day parts, labor, and on-site response warranty.
This will expire in August 2005

7. Who is responsible for the maintenance of the servers?
Each library system's IT Administrator should be maintaining the accounting servers along with other computers on the network. Standard practices will vary from library to library, but we would suggest at a minimum:

• Checking completion of daily backups
• Monitoring the server's event viewer and taking action as needed
• Keeping the server current with Windows automatic updates, service packs and any other patches that may be recommended by the accounting software vendors
• Visually checking the server status lights for alert conditions that may indicate such things as failed or failing hard drives
• Checking the server's uninterruptible power supply (UPS)

8. What are the details of the hardware and general configuration of the accounting servers?

• Dell PowerEdge 2550
• Hard drives: Two 18GB mirrored (RAID 1) as a single logical drive on an array controller. (A few larger library systems received units with three hard drives striped to RAID 5)
• Processor: Intel Pentium 3, 1.4GHz
• RAM: 512Mb
• Tape Drive: Internal DLT 40/80GB capacity
• Logical Drive Partitioning: C: 4GB NTFS. E: 14GB NTFS
• Operating System: Windows 2000 Server
• Tape Backup Software: Veritas Backup Exec Version 8.6

9. Who Owns the Accounting Servers?
Ownership and control of the Accounting Servers was transferred to individual library systems in 2003

Ownership and control of the old Compaq Proliant ("SAMSON") servers was transferred to the libraries in 2003. This document contains information about decommissioning and the choices for disposal of the old servers
