Successful Community Outreach : A How-To-Do-It Manual for Librarians
by Blake, Barbara Radke; Martin, Robert Sidney; Du, Yunfei
From Booklist, Copyright (c) American Library Association. Used with permission.
The four chapters in this book guide the user through describing the library and community, determining outreach needs and assets assessment, and creating an outreach plan. Two appendixes provide sources of community and library data and examples of community-outreach plans. Numerous worksheets will help readers in creating their own plans, from start to finish, and are included both in the text and on the accompanying CD-ROM. Although focused on public libraries, this work will help those in any type of library trying to create a plan for reaching out to the community by any definition, whether needing to create vision and mission statements, locate demographics and statistics, define needs, measure outputs and outcomes, or evaluate the plan and library.--Marcus, Sara Copyright 2010 Booklist
