CSAC 2008
Celebrating its 10th year, the Children's Services Annual Conference (CSAC) is an opportunity for personnel working with children in public libraries and school media centers throughout the state to meet new people, renew contacts, and learn the latest information affecting the diverse field in which they work.
There are some exciting programs in 2008. Caroline Figiel and Danny Jones, known professionally as singing duo Caroline & Danny, will present two different workshops--Old Stories-New Twist and Caroline and Danny's Librarians' Toolbox: Building a Positive Experience. Beloved storyteller Donald Davis will present the afternoon general session. For Donald Davis, storytelling is a way of giving and living life. He invites each listener to come along, to pull deep inside for one's own stories, to personally share and co-create the common experiences that celebrate the creative spirit.
Attention has been paid to the responses to questions asked on the Georgia Public Library Service Children’s Listserv. There is a wide array of topics covered at CSAC this February. From technology to old-fashioned reading fun, from the time-honored tradition of storytelling to creating kid-friendly spaces, it is all there. Tweens to toddlers, musical storytelling to Lexile scoring, CSAC has it all.
Returning to the state conference this year—the Share-a-rama stage! Library systems from across the state will have a chance to share programming ideas, craft projects, and children’s activities as we incorporate Share-a-rama into the annual conference. 5 – 10 minute slots are available and will be coordinated by Stage Manager and NE Quadrant Council Leader, Ginny Collier.
Please click here or email Ginny at collierv@dekalblibrary.org to be presenter or to share a craft/project idea “passively” via handouts or display.
New to CSAC for 2008—the CSAC Centerpiece Contest! Click here for a contest rules and entry form. The winner of the contest will receive a gift basket sponsored by the Macon Convention & Visitor’s Bureau.
