GLASS Reader Advisor

Provides reader advisory services to patrons of the library on the phone or in person

Prepare bibliographies of reading interest for patrons

Assist in promotion of library services by preparing articles to newsletters, blogs, creating bulletin boards, library display and other materials to that promote and enhance services

Staff the information desk on a rotating basis

Assist patrons using various assistive technology software and equipment

Provide technical support for the talking book players, BARD and any emerging technologies related to NLS services

Assists in the upkeep and maintenance of various databases as needed

Assists in the development and maintenance of the Librarys collection

Provide information about the library to patrons, service providers, and families

Provide referrals to patrons concerning other agencies that provide services to people with disabilities

Represent the library at conferences, workshops, and committees

Other duties as assigned

Bachelors Degree or 2 years experience working with people with disabilities in a library setting

Experience working with people with disabilities

Experience in a Library for people with print impairments

Knowledge of the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped Experience with assistive technology for people with print impairments

Basic understanding of computer operating systems and software, particularly Microsoft Office suite and various cloud based services that provide similar functionality


Knowledge of the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped

Knowledge of an assortment of literary genres

Knowledge of resources available to disabled patrons statewide

Skill in decision making and problem solving.

Skill in oral and written communication.

Ability to use a computer and the ability to type

Ability to communicate clearly at any level

Ability to effectively multi-task.

Must be a self-starter and team player
