Instruction and Engagement Librarian

Location: Middle Georgia State University

Teach information skills, provide research and technology assistance, and create print and web-based instructional and publicity materials for Middle Georgia State University Libraries. Develop and conduct online library instruction sessions. Collect, analyze, interpret and report user experiences for use in the assessment of online information literacy services. Develop and implement a plan to train other librarians to use emerging instructional technologies to connect with students and faculty. Work collaboratively with librarians on all campuses to maintain a repository of learning content that can be used in instruction on all campuses.
Create new content for the Librarys LibGuides and other web-based discovery tools. Identify outreach opportunities and partnerships with university departments. Engage in self-directed learning about emerging technologies. Develop and manage a social media plan for Middle Georgia State University Libraries. Face to face library instruction with undergraduate and graduate students as needed. Provide reference support in-person, via chat, and over the phone. Some weekend and evening work. Serves as liaison to academic departments as assigned.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited program or within six months of completing degree requirements. Demonstrated familiarity with current theory and practice in information literacy and library instruction. Familiarity with a variety of online and electronic learning tools. At least one year of instructional experience in an academic library setting or related teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in using Learning Management Systems, e.g. Blackboard or Canvas. Proficiency with a variety of audio, video and photo editing programs. Coursework or experience in project management.
