This position plans, prepares, and presents individual programs for children and teens. In addition, the position is a front-line customer service position for the Library and provides a variety of information services to library patrons of all ages, with a specific emphasis on services for children and teens.

Qualifications SCHEDULE: Part-time, 25 hours per week. Work schedules will vary and flexibility is required.
The library is open 7 days/week, and programs are scheduled on any day of the week.
Schedule includes a combination of daytime hours, evening hours, and rotating Saturdays and Sundays.
Applicants will only be considered if they can meet this flexible schedule as an ongoing requirement.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelors degree. One year of experience providing programming for children.  Knowledge of classic and popular Easy, Juvenile, and Teen authors.  Familiarity with principles of child literacy and stages of child development as they apply to childrens and teen programming. Experience in customer service or working with the public. Strong skills in public speaking, presentation of programs, and verbal communications. Strong computer skills, including Windows, MS Office, email, Internet, databases, and various electronic and print resources.  Strong computer troubleshooting skills to assist patrons with a variety of computer actions & applications.  Valid Georgia Drivers License and transportation.

Preferred Requirements: Masters degree in Library Science (MLIS) with a Georgia Certificate of Librarianship. Direct library experience involving youth services, reference services, and information services. One or more years of experience working in a technologically progressive public library. Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills helpful.

Special Notes Requires prolonged periods of standing & sitting, with frequent but intermittent periods of stooping, bending, walking, moving throughout library, pushing fully-loaded book carts & bins. High degree of manual dexterity and repetitive hand movement. Frequent lifting of light objects (e.g., individual books, reams of paper), occasional lifting of heavy items (e.g., program materials, props, puppet theater, tables, tubs of library materials), and occasional use of pushing/pulling motions to move chairs, tables, or meeting room wall partitions. Must be able to independently lift or move a tub/container of library materials (could weigh up to 40 lbs.). Daily activities require incumbent to communicate verbally under pressure, to project vocally to a group, and to distinguish between shades of color. Incumbent is occasionally required to manipulate puppets and audio/visual equipment, and to work from a ladder.
