Library Technical ParaProfessional I - Technical Services

Under the supervision of the Director of Technical Services, the incumbent works as part of a team to provide excellence in library services and collections. The incumbent will have technical services responsibilities including receiving, ordering, invoice tracking, copy cataloging, and processing for monographs and serials. They will serve as backup for other technical services functions and help with special projects, as assigned.

Technical Services Primary Support (70%)
 Order library materials through the ILS and vendor databases
 Receive and verify materials and invoices upon arrival and update acquisition records in the Integrated Library System (ILS)
 Track pending purchase orders and item statuses
 Receive and process all invoices for library one-time purchase materials
 Provide training on shelf-ready books to Access Services staff on both campuses
 Assist with the development and maintenance of procedures manuals and policies for the Acquisitions Unit
 Correspond with library staff and vendors to troubleshoot problems
 Receive and organize purchased library materials and donations for cataloging and processing
 Assist with the maintenance and updating of acquisitions and cataloging records in the ILS
 Receive, sort, and route department mail
 Work on special projects as assigned

Technical Services Secondary Support (20%)
 Create spreadsheets, statistical reports, and assist with Technical Services statistics
 Support Technical Services with agendas, minutes, room reservations, and posting of information on the intranet
 Assist with the supervision and training of student assistants
 Assist with the physical processing and repair of library materials
 Submit and track work orders through the university tracking system
 Manage the withdrawal of some library materials
 Participate in professional development and training events as assigned

Support Functions (10%)
 Support Technical Services with agendas, minutes, room reservations, sharing of information
 Facilitate the work of others
 Serve on and assist with various library and/or university committees
 Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications Required: High School diploma or GED; working knowledge of basic computer equipment, software (e.g. MS Windows), and general internet applications.

Preferred:
1. Experience with standard office and collaboration software (Microsoft Office, Google Drive)
2. Knowledge of library principles, methods, techniques, and procedures
3. Knowledge of library catalogs, integrated library systems, bibliographic records, and monographic and serials processing policies and procedures
4. Experience with ordering and accounting related duties
5. Experience with maintaining financial records and generating reports
6. Knowledge / work experience with standard academic library principles, procedures, materials, services, and practices
7. Two years of library experience with Technical Services duties, especially in an academic library
8. Experience with Voyager or Alma Integrated Library System
