The University of Georgia Libraries seeks a collaborative, energetic, and creative individual with a demonstrated commitment to advancing undergraduate learning and research within a library context for the position of Director of the Zell B. Miller Learning Center Library Commons (MLC). Reporting to the University Librarian/Associate Provost, the Director provides strategic direction and leadership for the Library Commons by administering facilities operations, coordinating services provided in the building, planning programs and activities, and managing MLCs support staff and student assistants. The position engages with faculty and other colleagues to promote, assess and improve the Library Commons, serves as a liaison librarian to a specific department, and participates in library-wide and campus-wide meetings and committees.
The MLC is a UGA Libraries strategic initiative undertaken in collaboration with a variety of University partners including the Enterprise Information Technology Services, UGA Center for Teaching and Learning, Facilities Management, Vice President for Instruction, and Campus Reservations as well as the Research and Instruction Department within the UGA Libraries to provide a library commons with transparent and seamless academic support and services for students. In this capacity the Director will execute planning, facilitation, negotiation, supervision, troubleshooting, and assessment to further a vision for and a commitment to progressive services for effective student learning.
