Community Engagement Coordinator

Location: Sequoyah Regional Library System

The Sequoyah Regional Library System seeks a dynamic and enthusiastic individual with an ability to work as a team player and help lead projects. This individual needs to take a proactive approach in effective communication with the public to support the librarys mission, goals, and objectives. He or she will strive to meet and anticipate user needs though engaging programming, effective services and meaningful outreach. This position reports to the Assistant Director and will supervise the Web Presence Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Build relationships with community organizations and sustain partner relationships for future opportunities.
Network and engage in community activities.
Coordinate library participation in community events.
Use multiple formats and channels to communicate with library users, potential users and other stakeholders.
Develop and maintain effective means of communication between library staff and the public, ensuring public knowledge of events and services.
Deliver presentations on library services to patrons, organizations and community groups.
Promote events and services to the public with news releases, event submissions, signage and other communication outlets.
Coordinate media outlet coverage and relationships.
Oversee the content of the system website, ensuring an engaging web presence and effective dissemination of information.
Supervise SRLS social media platforms, curating original content and creating high engagement posts.
Develop and manage content for an e-newsletter system.
Identify and pursue grants for library programs.
Define and implement outreach services for the library community to increase use of library services and to reach underserved populations.
Design, implement and sponsor system -wide library programs that provide opportunities for information, entertainment and lifelong learning.
Guide and support programming, services and outreach for all departments and branches, to make certain that we meet the variety of needs of patrons served.
Create, develop and organize system-wide STEAM programming, and other programming as needed.
Coordinate special events and exhibits appealing to the community.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Document and preserve library success with photos and narratives.
Coordinate regional publicity with Pickens and Gilmer library managers.
Communicate activities regularly with supervisor.
Proactively stay aware of library trends and changes.
Assume additional responsibilities and perform special projects as needed or directed
Assist with or conduct library programs as needed.

Qualifications EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Masters Degree in Library/Information Science or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Demonstrated broad knowledge of system-wide policies, procedures, and operations
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors Degree
Experience working in community relations related field
Demonstrated ability organizing programs or events
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Three years working in a library setting
Ability to speak conversational Spanish
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Georgia Drivers License
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Strong interpersonal skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Superior time management and multi-tasking skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, Social Media and Internet.
Ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively to determine proper course of action.
This work requires considerable skill, initiative, independent judgment, and follow through. The successful candidate must be a team player, willing to participate in all activities and programs of the library.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Able to lift boxes and crates up to 30 lbs.
Occasional evening or weekend work is required.
