Library Technical ParaProfessional I

Under the supervision of the Director of Collection Development, the incumbent performs a variety of clerical tasks in support of the Collection Development Unit. Responsible for assisting the activities of the Government Documents Librarian, the Undergraduate Faculty Liaison Coordinator, and the Director of Collection Development with print and electronic resources projects.

Collection Development Support (60%)
-Assist with collection maintenance projects
-Provide data entry into electronic resources management software and staff Intranet
-Run reports using Ex Libris ALMA, Qualtrix, and other library software programs
-Compile and record data from a variety of sources into spreadsheets
-Assist with processing book donations
-Maintain clerical records
-Assist Monographs Coordinator with demand-driven acquisitions
-Help with ordering replacement books
-Assist with Collection Development telephone and virtual requests
-Support Collection Development with agendas, minutes, room reservations, sharing of information
-Assist with collecting statistics

Government Documents Support (30%)
-Assist with the codification of library policies and procedures, especially those concerning collection maintenance or government documents issues
-Assist the Government Documents Librarian with processing collections
-Check-in and process Federal Depository Library Program shipments (including labeling, date stamping, and applying security strips and barcodes to tangible items)
-Maintain government documents collection by shelving, shelf-reading, inventory and shifting of materials
-Create displays highlighting government materials

Support Functions (10%)
-Facilitate the work of others
-Assist with occasional special projects and events
-Serve on and assist various library committees
-Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications Required:
High School diploma or GED; working knowledge of basic computer equipment, software (e.g. MS Windows), and general internet applications.

-Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and established procedures in a timely manner.
-Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
-Ability to interact effectively with patrons and co-workers.
-Ability to work independently and with others, including library faculty and staff as well as university faculty and staff
-Ability to operate a wide variety of office equipment, including but not limited to, desktop computer equipment, tablets, laptops, calculators, photocopiers, scanners, fax machines, bar code scanners, microform machines, and other peripheral devices used by computer based library systems.
-Ability to demonstrate attention to detail, organization, and proofreading skills.
-Aptitude for making progress on multiple simultaneous projects.
-Good work habits, such as attendance, punctuality, accountability, thoroughness and resourcefulness.
-Ability to work a flexible work schedule primarily Monday through Friday 8:30-5:30 with a one-hour meal break. On occasion may have to work at alternative KSU work locations and an occasional evening or weekend. Schedule subject to change with academic calendar.
-Knowledge / work experience with standard academic library principles, procedures, materials, services, and practices and/or administrative assistant work.
-Working knowledge of Library of Congress classification system.
-Adaptability and flexibility to work in a changing environment.
-Experience working in library collection development.
-Experience working with government documents.
-Experience with project management.
