Location: Henry A. Hunt Memorial Library/Fort Valley State University
Duties:
*Responsible for coordinating reference service in the Hunt Memorial Library. Responsible for providing the majority of reference service using all available formats and delivery mechanisms supported by the Library. *Responsible for maintaining proficiency in using and teaching all reference resources supported by the Hunt Library. This includes traditional print sources as well as emerging electronic formats. *Responsible for the reference Collection in the library including the selection and acquisition of materials in all formats for the collection. This librarian will actively work with other librarian and library staff members to implement and maintain access to all reference resources supported by the Library. *This librarian, in collaboration with library and departmental faculty, is responsible for designing, implementing, teaching and promoting the multi-faceted information literacy curriculum within an outcomes, assessment and skills-based model. The Reference, Information Literacy Librarian will teach most, but not all information literacy sessions. Specific information literacy responsibilities may include: *Plan, implement, market, and evaluate the Library�s instructional program *Coordinate and schedule all library instruction activities *Serve as the contact person and faculty liaison for all general inquiries for library instruction *Collaborate with others and also work individually to produce a variety of information and instructional materials *Develop new instruction applications of technology *Work collegially with classroom faculty to integrate information competencies into the curriculum by integrating resource-based learning experiences *Review curriculum and reach out to teaching faculty to expand and assess the instruction program *Develop, coordinate and implement workshops and instructional opportunities for the faculty *Prepare informational and instructional guides, bibliographies and brochures *Develop and maintain a collection of reference materials *May be assigned to act as a reference and information literacy liaison to specific departments *Shares responsibility with other professional library staff members in the development of the general library collection *Supervises, trains, and evaluates student work-study workers assigned to the public services area of the library *Shares off-hours supervision of the library with other staff members. Assumes duties at the Circulation Desk as needed. Shares technical services duties as needed with other staff members *Represents the library and the college at professional library meetings locally, statewide, and nationally *Responsible for planning, implementation and maintenance of the Library Website and web based library services and resources. Shares in the implementation, training and maintenance of other software deemed appropriate to use in the delivery of public services, information literacy and instructional technology. *Will demonstrate courtesy and respect for all members of the university community and the public in the course of performing the duties of this position. *Other duties assigned by the Library Director to ensure a smooth operation of the Hunt Memorial Library. |
