 <title>Authors Festival</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;The North Georgia region is rich with authors and poets who lend diverse voices to children’s literature, religious topics, fiction, humor and history. The library is proud to represent them in our collections.    On Saturday, March 10, the Bartow County Library System will host writers at our 2nd Annual Authors’ Festival. It’s a great opportunity for visitors and budding writers to meet and talk with authors and buy their autographed books. Over 15 authors have committed to the event.   The free event will take place from 2:00-4:00 pm at the Cartersville Public Library in Nathan Dean Community Rooms A &amp;amp; B.&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>Meet the Author: Ted Dunagan</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;Author Ted Dunagan, will speak at the Statesboro Regional Library on February 9, 2012 at 7:00pm. He was named a Georgia Author of the Year in 2009 for his debut novel A Yellow Watermelon and again in 2011 for his second book.Secret of the Satilla. Written for youth, these books speak to adults as well. In the best Southern literary tradition, they explore poverty and racial segregation through the eyes of two twelve-year-old friends. The third in the series is Trouble on the Tombigbee. Written for youth, the award-winning stories appeal to adults as well. Children should be accompanied by adults, please.&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>Author Carolyn McKinstry at Suwanee Library</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;Carolyn McKinstry, a member of the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, was present on September 15, 1963, when white racists bombed the Church and her four young friends were killed. Carolyn&#039;s book, &quot;While the World Watched&quot; details her life growing up in Birmingham, as well as &quot;lessons learned&quot; from her experiences and involvement in the Birmingham Civil Rights Movement of the sixties. The book also serves as a tool for Carolyn&#039;s ongoing travel and work in the Ministry of Reconciliation and Forgiveness. She has appeared twice on Oprah , and has been interviewed by USA Today, Life Magazine, 20/20, CNN and MSNBC .&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;This Meet the Author series event is being held on Thursday, January 26 at 6:00 pm at the Suwanee Branch of the Gwinnett County Public Library, 361 Main St., Suwanee 30024.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The Gwinnett County Public Library is proud to announce its newest, annual, countywide&lt;br /&gt;Gwinnett Reads selection The Emperor of All Maladies by Siddhartha Mukherjee. Mr.&lt;br /&gt;Mukherjee&#039;s cancer biography has been recognized as one of the &quot;10 Best Books of 2010&quot;&lt;br /&gt;by the New York Times. The book chronicles the history of cancer as well as delves into its&lt;br /&gt;origins, the advancement of diagnoses, and discusses recent developments on this&lt;br /&gt;ferocious disease. Mukherjee beautifully weaves compassion for patients and their families&lt;br /&gt;along with the science and research of this complex and complicated sickness.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Mr. Mukherjee is an Assistant Professor of Medicine as well as Cancer Physician at&lt;br /&gt;Columbia Medical Center. Mr. Mukherjee has also been recognized as one of Time&lt;br /&gt;Magazines 2011 &quot;100 Most Influential People&quot;.&lt;/p&gt;
