Balancing Copyright & Access to Digital Collections

Friday, March 11, 2016 - 12:30pm

The legal issues surrounding digitization often hamper the willingness of libraries to increase access to digitized and born-digital collections. In this 2nd Friday session, we’ll discuss copyright basics in digital collections and using the protections of copyright law to enable both small- and large-scale library digitization projects, and embedding the copyright and fair use inquiry in collection development and digitization projects from start to finish.

The host will be Brandy Karl, Copyright Officer at Pennsylvania State University.
