Shape of the Humanities in Higher Education Symposium

Wayne Clough, Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, will be one of the panelists at The Shape of the Humanities in Higher Education.
For the second year in a row this symposium will kick off the annual Conference on Interdisciplinary Studies in the Humanities (sponsored by the UWG Foreign Languages and Literatures). The symposium will consist of a panel discussion of the American Academy's commissioned report, The Heart of the Matter: the Humanities and Social Sciences. Secretary Clough was a member of the Commission that wrote the report. He will be joined by poet Rosanna Warren, UWG Political Science Professor Bob Schaefer, and President of the Federation of State Humanities Councils, Esther Mackintosh.
The Symposium will begin at 7:30 in the Townsend Center on October 31.
The American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Federation of State Humanities Council, the Georgia Humanities Council and the Georgia Public Library Service are sponsoring and helping to promote the event at UWG.
