Through a series of interactive writing exercises and online group discussions, you will discover how to better identify and overcome barriers to success with staff, colleagues, decision-makers, and your library’s users.

Topics include:

Topics include the differences among leadership, management and professional points of view, the characteristics of everyday leadership, dealing with risk, understanding the big picture, creating and communicating vision, ethical influence, applying leadership in workplace situations, mistakes in leadership, and how to break through self-created glass walls and ceilings.

Other Information:

This program will be conducted online using three different kinds of software (Wimba, LinkedIn and LE@D/Univ. of North Texas), each which does a different job. If you have never used these kinds of tools before, they might be a little confusing or even intimidating at first. However, you will receive friendly support and the time to practice and improve your skills with Library 2.0 tools. Online classes save you travel time and costs and allow you to participate at your convenience. You should expect to spend about two-three hours each week on the class.
