Friends of Libraries groups now have their very own national week of celebration! ALTAFF will coordinate the fourth annual national Friends of Libraries Week October 18-24, 2009. The celebration offers a two-fold opportunity to celebrate Friends. Use the time to creatively promote your group in the community, to raise awareness, and to promote membership. This is also an excellent opportunity for your library and Board of Trustees to recognize the Friends for their help and support of the library.

The 6th Annual Savannah Children’s Book Festival will take place on Saturday, November 14th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Forsyth Park in Savannah, Georgia (rain location is the Savannah Civic Center). Celebrate the joy of reading, the power of the written word and the magic of storytelling with children’s book authors and illustrators from around the country. The festival also features dozens of local authors, arts and crafts, food, a variety of entertainment, an international tent, costumed characters, a “teen scene” and more!
