Story Published July 1 2007 - New DLG Website: the Gainesville Tornado 1936

Merryll Pension provided the attached story published in the Gainesville Times about the debut of the new Digital Library of Georgia (DLG) Georgia HomePLACE Library project on the Gainesville Tornado of 1936. Very innovative and available to all Georgia public library users. Worth the read! I've attached a word document with the story to this announcement. -- Toni Z.

Exit Interview Questionnaire for Public Library Directors

Original Question: Do any of you conduct exit interviews when staff members leave your employment? If so, do you have specific questions you typically ask? Any ideas or comments are welcome!

Two sample documents have been attached for your convenience. One document has the questions and the other document has the exit rating done by department head or branch manager.

Feedback: Leasing Adult Fiction

Original Question: I am considering leasing adult fiction books and would like feedback about leasing, both pro and con. Is it cost effective to lease? Any comments are appreciated.

Programming Idea -- Drive-In Movie Night

Thought I'd share this with the list:

We've held two "drive-in movie nights" in the last couple of months and they've been very successful. We use a standard dvd player on a laptop and project the film using an LCD projector. The screen is a large drop cloth we got on loan from the local Lowe's. We had guys from the City come over and help us put the screen up the day of the event. Patrons then bring their lawn chairs, blankets, etc. to sit and watch the film while we sell popcorn, snacks, etc.
